The natural beauty evokes a Garden of Eden. And this movie seems to try and explore the relationship that might have existed between rapture and Eve in the Garden of Eden, learning about love, sex, and children all on their own. And I think the movie gives it a pretty good shot. The Blue Lagoon is much deeper than people give it credit for.
